2017 Infiniti Q60: Redesign Info, Release Date

Overview

The Infiniti Q60 is due for a major redesign for the 2017 model year. It will eschew the aging G-based design for a sleeker one akin to the Q50 sedan. Shoppers will be in for a wait, however- according to Infiniti, there will be no 2016 model year.

Infiniti says the next Q60 will be heavily influenced by the Q60 Concept revealed ahead of the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The design employs sharp contours with a pleasing low stance, much like a Q50 sedan but taken a bit further. The automaker is aiming to make the car a true 2+2 coupe with enough room for two rear passengers.

Much like BMW with its 320 sport sedan and Lexus with its IS 200t and GS 200t, Infiniti will be moving more toward turbocharging in the years ahead. The automaker is claiming the next Q60 will be powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 with direct injection. Sources estimate the engine may produce up to 400 hp and will come with drive-by-wire steering akin to the Q50 and will be equipped with a 7-speed automatic transmission.

Expect further details to become available closer to launch.

Release Date

The 2017 Infiniti Q60 is expected in late Summer or early Fall in 2016. Stay tuned for the latest release info as it becomes available.
